Phone Systems for Small Business

In today's competitive world, the telephone is one of the easiest ways to reach your customers and clients. Effective communication plays a vital role in the success of every business. An efficient communication system is therefore a must in every firm. Phone systems for small business help to maintain better customer relations, and are in every way a profitable investment for all small and medium industry owners. Moreover, there are providers who can give you telecommunication systems at affordable prices. As a fast medium of communication, small business phone systems have their own definite role in the smooth running of an organization.

There are three major types of commercial telephone systems; they are PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems, key systems and KSU-less phones. A fourth type of communication system uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology.

Nowadays, phone systems for small business are provided with excellent capabilities and calling features. The common features in these systems include call holding, call forwarding, call waiting, automatic call distributor, faxing facility, speaker phone, conference call, automated directory services, automatic ring back, auto attendant, speed dial, multiple extensions and more. The call forwarding facility in the hosted PBX system ensures that establishments will not miss any incoming call. The cost of purchasing and installing a virtual system is reasonable, and it mainly depends on the features included.

One of the standard functions of most PBX systems now is the voicemail facility; this helps the customer to leave messages in particular situations. Small businesses can boost their professional image with a voicemail system. Other than these basic functions, these communication systems also contain facilities such as custom greetings, music on hold, welcome messages and many more so as to provide a professional touch to the organization. As a result of the quick progress in the field of information technology, many manufacturers are now entering the field with hosted PBX systems which Small and medium scale establishments can easily afford.

Phone systems for small business are of immense utility value for those organizations which are likely to receive more incoming calls in connection with the dealings. These systems help small business firms to enhance their functioning, incorporating excellent management and customer strategies.

UK Employment advice pls. I work 16hrs per week at home as a Telephone Mystery Shopper?
I have a contract for the 16hrs and have always stuck to it. It is flexible working which is ideal as I have an 8yr old daughter I Home Educate due to a health issue. This week they have had a new telephone system installed which has completely wiped out the equipment we all used (several office based and home based workers). This week we have all had to wait in for couriers for new equipment to arrive and they say they want us to make the 16hrs up where we can this week or add onto next week. This is start of the school holidays and I feel that this new office manager (single with no interest in children and she made that quite clear) has chosen the worst possible time to implement these changes. I do have a contract and have been with the company since March 14 this year so have cleared my probationary period - although I have never had a "review" to say I had passed I just took this as well I'm still employed so it must be ok. I enjoy the work immensely and it affords me the flexibility I wouldn't get any where else. Can someone pls tell me where I stand and as it it the companies problem that they have these technical issues this week (we can now ONLY reach them on mobiles until they get new system sorted) Do I make a fuss and stand my ground (if there are any for me to fight with) or do I put up and shut up ? They did this once before when they had no outlets left for any of us to call and so I was a day short of work (5hrs left to work that week). They asked me if I would mind adding them onto the next week - which I did but surely this is not right ? I have other things to do in my week and have 3hrs a day where I have to Home Teach my 2 children in the mornings. By saying yes I'd carry that 5hrs forward have I given them the green light to do as they please ? Surely there is a fine line but I'm not sure whether I should rock the boat. One of the guys I met at a recent company training day well I can tell you he would definitely not put up with this. We were away for 48 hours yet they only gave us 10 hours work allowance for the whole time - I found this dreadful. Yes they did pay hotel and travel. Please help. If I rock the boat I worry they will find some excuse to get rid of me and I need the job as I can't go out to work due to my commitment to the children. Basically can they insist I carry forward 16hrs to next week ? Thanks
